Become an accredited coach or mentor

The EMCC Global Individual Accreditation (EIA) is an internationally recognised professional designation for coaches and mentors. It recognises the quality of your practice, your commitment to continuing professional development, reflective learning, and ongoing one-to-one supervision.

EMCC Global Individual Accreditation EIA

Accreditation is the professional recognition of your practice as a coach or mentor; it sets you apart from those who describe themselves as such and those who have had their work assessed against international standards and proved to be working at that level.

Accreditation celebrates and recognises professional practice

There are four levels of EMCC Global Individual Accreditation that reflect the practice of the coach or mentor at the time of assessment. The levels are set out below. Note that in addition to length of experience and having prior and ongoing one to one supervision in place, every applicant will need to have a minimum number of clients and client hours, along with membership of EMCC Global or one of our affiliated countries or regions.

Foundation

With a minimum of one year’s experience coaching or mentoring, 50 client hours and five clients, Foundation level could be for you

Practitioner

Practitioners have been practising for at least three years, with 100 client hours and 10 clients

Senior Practitioner

With a five-year practice, 250 client hours and 20 clients you could mark your practice with a Senior Practitioner accreditation

Master Practitioner

Seven years of practice, 500 client hours, 40 clients and specific contribution to the profession. If you are interested in applying please contact us.

Three easy ways you can apply for your EIA

Via your EQA-accredited training programme

If you are a graduate of a training programme with an EQA accreditation from EMCC Global then your application is very easy.

Your training provider will be in touch with us to let us know when you have passed the course. On completion of your practice hours, with evidence of past and ongoing one-to-one supervision, alignment with the Global Code of Ethics, your EMCC membership in place, and payment of the accreditation fee, your EIA should be awarded.

Note that if you completed your course more than two years prior to application, then you will need to apply directly.

Supported application via the Five Day Challenge

The EMCC Global Five Day Challenge takes applicants through a period of dialogue in small cohorts, with a volunteer assessor guiding your group through the application form and answering queries.

While you do not need to have attended a Five Day Challenge to apply for your EIA, we find it is a good route for people who have not completed a regular training route, who are not sure whether their previous experience ‘counts’, or who need some additional support with paperwork formats or logs

Via a self-guided application

EMCC Global recognises prior learning irrespective of training or education, including recognition of accreditation which may have been gained via other accreditation bodies.

If you have completed work-based courses, have microcredentials, completed university-based courses or have been following a development path of another body then you could apply directly to us for your EMCC Global EIA.

Your application will be assessed and passed to a verifier before award. We may need to engage you in a professional dialogue or recommend you attend a Five Day Challenge.

Renewing or upgrading your accreditation

Your EIA accreditation is valid for five years. Two months before it expires, you will receive a reminder email from us with details of what you need to do.

If you are renewing at your current level, you can download the renewal form below. If you would like to upgrade to a higher level at the same time, please contact us.
