Continuous Personal and Professional Development
Centre for Excellence
Anticipate, challenge and advance best practices in practitioners' ongoing development
We help practitioners develop continuously throughout their careers, focusing on their practice, relationships, context and personal growth. We support reflective practice and ethical decision making, helping practitioners adapt and grow in response to changing circumstances.
Guided by our Four As Framework — Anything, Anytime, Anyhow, Anywhere — we make learning flexible and accessible. Continuous Personal & Professional Development (CPPD) goes beyond traditional continuous professional development (CPD) by supporting not just professional skills, but the ongoing development of practice and professional identity. We build a global community where coaches, mentors and supervisors learn together.
Support high quality development. We advance development through research and collaborative work. We strengthen ongoing development for coaches, mentors and supervisors. We help practitioners develop their professional skills, self awareness and ethical decision making.
Build an inclusive learning community. We encourage ongoing development that respects different cultures and global contexts. We welcome diverse voices and different ways of learning.
Lead the way in professional development. We prepare practitioners for emerging challenges including AI and cultural shifts. We move beyond traditional professional development to shape reflective, ethical practice.
Key initiatives
Disruptive conversations. We host dialogues with researchers and practitioners exploring new perspectives on learning and challenges in coaching, mentoring and supervision. Sessions encourage reflection and help practitioners think differently about their work.
CPPD @ EMCC Conferences and events. We partner with EMCC conferences, countries and regions to design events that support reflective practice and practitioner development.
Documentation. We create resources for practitioners and the global community to capture learning and support knowledge sharing.
Our impact
We have changed how learning works within EMCC, moving toward reflective, ethical practice.
Through the Permission to Disrupt series, we created space for dialogue about emerging challenges in coaching, mentoring and supervision. From this work we produced Hallways for reflection (July 2025, with Dr David Drake) and Collective coherence and authentic practice (December 2025) to help practitioners through change and develop their professional identity.
We also produced the guidance document Enhancing the Quality of Learning Events (November 2025) for EMCC Global countries, regions and workgroups to design learning that reflects EMCC values. This document has shaped learning across multiple EMCC Global conferences and events.
