Advancing team coaching practice

According to the current EMCC Global Team Coaching Framework, team coaching focuses on helping the team collectively achieve the team’s work in terms of both task work and team work through sustained professional dialogue that raises the individual and collective level of reflection and self-awareness, and challenges the team’s thinking and behaviours as they develop their own sustainable solutions and practices.

Our CfE believes that great teams do more than hit targets. They innovate, adapt, and uplift each other. True success lies in trust, shared purpose, collaboration and alignment, where every member feels valued and heard. We aim to cultivate these activities through our work at the Team Coaching CfE. We are committed to fostering a thriving, engaged, and research-informed community of team coaches. Our goal is to empower coaches with the tools and insights needed to elevate team dynamics and drive sustainable success.

We define and develop team coaching standards and frameworks with other CfEs, members, accreditation, and external stakeholders. Our CfE keeps these standards responsive to emerging research, evolving organisational needs, and innovation in the field. Our aim is to create a vision of what effective team coaching looks like and how it works in practice, clarifying the specific skills and knowledge team coaches need.

Our CfE engages organisations and individuals in ongoing professional dialogue. We facilitate conversations that deepen understanding and develop practice across the team coaching community.

We support the global team coaching community through shared learning. Through our CfE, EMCC Global connects coaches internationally to share experience, research, and practical knowledge that advances team coaching.

Key initiatives

We are focused on four workstreams in 2026:

  1. Relationship building – we support team coaches, mentors and trainers
  2. Updating the EMCC Global Team Coaching Framework
  3. Research
  4. Communications – we coordinate information and share news about Team Coaching

Become accredited as a team coach or training provider

EMCC Global was the first organisation internationally to provide accreditations for team coaching. We have the Individual Team Coaching ITCA professional designation as well as the Team Coaching Quality Award for training providers.

Our impact

During 2025, our first year, we created our team charter to guide our work together. We met with members, peers and external stakeholders, and delivered an interactive workshop, Team Play: From Now to Next.

We value co-creating and collaborating with our members, other CfEs, country partners, EMCC Admin and EMCC communications. Creating opportunities for collaboration, trust, growth and connection across the EMCC ecosphere is important to our work.

In 2026, we will deliver a workshop at the EMCC Global conference and continue building relationships internally and externally. We plan to facilitate regular discussion about team coaching practice.
