The University of Roehampton, UK, has secured an EMCC Global Quality Award (EQA) accreditation for its Level 5 Diploma in Coaching – an essential part of its BSc in Psychology and Coaching, an undergraduate degree that combines both areas in harmony

The synergy means students will develop key coaching skills in work, health, personal, and career coaching settings, using psychology to empower people to achieve their goals and mastering effective communication skills.

Sara Khalil, Programme Leader and Lecturer in Psychology at University of Roehampton, said:

We are delighted that our vision of offering an undergraduate degree that teaches coaching through a psychological lens has been accredited by EMCC Global. This programme is uniquely positioned as the first undergraduate degree to integrate scientific psychological evidence-based knowledge with practical coaching skills.

“With dual accreditation from EMCC Global and the British Psychological Society, our students will graduate with unparalleled qualifications: a psychology degree complemented by the credentials to work as coaching practitioners. This dual recognition by national and international bodies ensures that our graduates are not only equipped with deep academic knowledge but also with exceptional, highly sought-after employability skills that set them apart in the global marketplace.”

Because the course has now been awarded an EQA, its graduates will also be automatically eligible for their own EMCC Global Individual Accreditation (EIA) once they have achieved their required coaching hours, as EMCC Global will already be assured their learning covers all the elements required for the professional designation.

Denise Whitworth, VP Accreditation and Membership for EMCC Global, said: “The team is to be congratulated on developing this world-class, well-designed programme. The course has a good progression of knowledge and skills, and aims, learning outcomes and assessment are clearly aligned. It introduces and maintains a high level of reflective practice throughout, which is important in developing learners into reflective practitioners and setting them on a good path for their own individual accreditation.”

The University of Roehampton, UK is highly ranked, placing in the top 15% in the world according to the Times Higher Education Young University rankings 2024 and securing the position of the 3rd modern university in London according to the Complete University Guide 2025.
