Re-accreditation for impactful programme manager training

Feb 3, 2025

The Mentoring and Coaching Programme Manager training programme of JHM Professional Development Consultancy Ltd and Clutterbuck Coaching and Mentoring International has been reverified by EMCC Global as meeting all the standards for Programme Manager Quality Award (PMQA) accreditation.

The training programme is designed for people who manage organisations’ mentoring and coaching schemes. The curriculum helps them implement and evaluate their programmes within an evidence-based and ethical framework, and that they are personally equipped to overcome challenges and continue their own development.

The PMQA renewal was awarded after our assessment and verification team ensured the programme content met all the standards we require for accreditation. Furthermore, they noted the strong ongoing support to all programme alumni was designed to ensure that the impact of the learning continues.

Established in 2019, the programme designed and led by Prof David Clutterbuck and Dr Julie Haddock-Millar, has seen a 100% completion rate across six cohorts. A seventh is running now, with Cohort 8 starting on 4 November 2025

As well as the six-monthly structured programme, participants and course alumni are invited to engage in an ongoing monthly Reflective Practice Forum, facilitated by two colleagues, either David, Julie, Dr Chandana Sanyal or Melissa Richardson.

David said: “One of the fringe benefits of the programme is that we now have a global community of programme managers, who can tap into each other’s experience and share good practice. Within each cohort, there has been great learning from how participants in other countries and sectors approach the programme manager role.”

The results of the forum are so significant that the resulting stories and experiences have formed the basis of the book Reciprocal Mentoring and the forthcoming book Mentoring Programmes, a Guide to Success, the sixth and seventh books in the EMCC Global Masters in Coaching and Mentoring series, published by Routledge.

Julie said: “We are delighted so many of our EMCC Global PMQA graduates have been able to positively impact their organisations and communities, embedding mentoring and coaching throughout in the organisational strategy, structure and culture. Our graduates have been recognised by EMCC Global and beyond for their contribution and impact to mentoring and coaching. Most recently, Maria Travers from ESB Ireland and previously Cathy Cribben, Oak Tree Mentoring, both winning the EMCC Global award for coaching and mentoring.”

Our assessors noted: “This programme continues to meet and exceed the high standards set by EMCC Global. The robust quality assurance framework, comprehensive participant support, and ongoing commitment to improvement are commendable. The integration of diverse assessments, reflective practices, and participant-driven enhancements ensures that the programme delivers meaningful outcomes.”

Both David and Julie are embedded in EMCC Global standards, values and ethics. David is the co-founder of EMCC and Julie is EMCC Global’s lead for the International Standards in Coaching and Mentoring Programmes (ISMCP) organisation-level accreditations.

In addition, both David and Julie personally hold all four of EMCC Global’s Individual Accreditations – both have EMCC Global Individual Accreditation (EIA) at Master Practitioner level, both have EMCC Global Supervision Individual Accreditation (ESIA), Individual Team Coaching Accreditation (ITCA) and Individual Programme Manager Accreditation (IPMA).

Denise Whitworth, EMCC Global VP Accreditation and Membership, said: “This programme is one of just two specialist Programme Manager Quality Award holders globally, and the re-accreditation is testament to the dedication and thoughtful design of David, Julie and the team. Looking at the feedback from participants, and the legacy created, it is clear that the impact has created ripples beyond the obvious benefit to those enrolled in the programme.”
